Information on the Romeo and Juliet Multimedia Project

Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays. It focuses on the idea of love – love at first sight, forbidden love, familial love – and the tragic ends it can lead us. The goal of this assessment is to think about the ideas of love being presented in the play and discuss how it has impacted modern day depictions and ideas. Research some present-day love stories – 1950 and younger – and analyze how the stories reflect certain ides of love in Romeo and Juliet. Then, using a multi-media tool (video, podcast, prezi, PowerPoint, etc.) illustrate those connections using details gathered from your research. Finally, give us your own thoughts on how Romeo and Juliet may have affected your own view of love after you first read it. Do you think the impact is negative or positive? How do? Use your own words and thoughts on this part of the assignment – there is no wrong answer, but make sure to give solid reasoning for your answer (hint hint: connecting it to your analysis on modern day impact might help you if you’re looking for reasoning).
